Kent School
Kent School, also known as the Nazi Monastery, was build in 1909 and opened in 1913 by the brothers of Fransiscus. Of the aproxamately 600 people who were living in the monastery, most of them were mentally ill.
With the rise of the Nazi's in 1939, the brothers of Fransiscus fled the buildings, leaving these to the Nazi's, who created a special childrens accomodation of those buildings. Children that were not welcome in Nazi - Germany, were being housed in here, or at least that's what they wanted the public to think, because
in reality, they converted the monastery into a euthanasia center.
In the period between 1939 and 1943, 512 people were killed in these buildings, among them 128 children. For 30 of the children, it's certain they were killed by an overdose of Luminal in the euthanasia program.
The Brothers of Fransiscus retreived the buildings back in the year 1952, but sold them again in 1955. The British Army bought the buildings and used them as a military hospital and eventually, the building got converted to a school untill it was closed down in 1992. The buildings are left abandoned and for sale since then.
