Sanatorium du Basil
This old tuberculosis sanatorium in Belgium was build in the early 1900's, on behalf of the director of a bacteriologic laboratory, and opended it's doors in 1903. It was build on a 420m high hill and is facing south, that way patients could take full benefit from the light and the warmth. After the sanatorium closed it's doors, the building was tranformed into a psychiatric hospital and later, between 2010 and 2013, the building was used as a shelter for refugees untill it closed it's doors again in 2013, due to the high financial costs. Nowadays, it's part of a new nursering home annex hospital that was build right next to the sanatorium, but since there isn't any use for the old sanatorium anymore, the city decided to put it on sale.
